Hey Laurel parents!
We are going to be meeting on Tuesday March 19 from 4:15-5pm to get the Laurel Parent-Teacher Association up and running. Students can remain in aftercare during this time. RSVP HERE
If this time *doesn't* work for you, please check the RSVP link to vote for potential meeting times you might be able to attend instead.
We know there's been interest in numerous school projects, and also that more organization is needed if there's a wish to turn any of that desire into action. :) Especially as younger families join the Laurel family, a clearer path for folks to get involved and feel ownership is essential.
To that end, there are a few projects currently in planning stages right now that could really use more eyes and hands on them.
T-shirt / sweatshirt / tote bags fundraiser
Teacher appreciation week
Student-led Bake sale
Campus clean-up / beautification project
Spring musical
We'll hopefully use a big chunk of this meeting to identify actionable next steps and people who can lead these areas.
Important note: I know these are far from the only goings-on that parents care about. My personal experience has been that we currently have fewer channels for volunteer communication than needed to keep from getting clogged by all our ideas at once. I am hoping that in-person meetings can help us do some "unclogging".
Once we've gotten these already-ongoing projects in a stable state, we'll look for the next set of goals/events/improvements to tackle.
We are also trying very hard to get a group set up on Facebook for parents to connect in a more quick-touch, casual way.
If you would like to be added to the Facebook group, please fill out THIS FORM and you will receive an invitation to join! 😎 (And if you're really opposed to Facebook, please let me know so we can try to figure something else out.)
Thank you all so much for your patience!
